IC information. Character's name: Janet Van Dyne Character's codename: Wasp Character's age: 30 PB: Kate Micucci Power/Ability: Jan has the ability to shrink to a minimum of 1/2 inch tall, growing a pair of insect wings when she does, and gaining the ability to shoot 'stingers'. She also has the ability to grow, like Hank, but this is a closely guarded secret and something she has almost never done. Very few people are aware. Affiliation (Avengers, X-Men, Brotherhood, Excalibur, S.H.I.E.L.D., No Affiliation, etc): Founding Avenger History: Janet Van Dyne was born in New Jersey the daughter of a wealthy scientist named Vernon Van Dyne. She showed an interest in fashion from a young age, and though she admittedly was not as skilled as some in her field, she was able to use her money and position to allow herself to do what it was she enjoyed most. She grew up with nearly everything a girl could want or ask for. But some how it always seemed something was lacking.
When Jan was nearing her eighteenth birthday things when spiraling out of control quite suddenly. During an experiment of her father's an alien monster was unleashed from an alternate dimension and Dr. Van Dyne was killed. Janet sought out an employee of her father's, Hank Pym, and with his help the two defeated the monster, sent it to its own dimension. From then on, Janet took over full funding of Hank's research, becoming his business part, and team mate. Not long after they would team up with what would become the founding members of the Avengers, with Jan being their youngest member. She and Hank have celebrated a continuous 'on-again-off-relationship' over the years, and Jan's membership on the team has been in later years.
There relationship having hit another 'off-again' period, Janet has returned to the Avengers, which has changed quite a bit since she was last with them, in the hopes of working with them once more.
Character Location: New York to start Character Physical Description: Janet is naturally a very small person, but she makes up for it with her big personality. She stands at about 5'4", petite with big eyes and bigger facial expressions. A fashion designer, she enjoys playing with her style. She wears her hair short, with the ends flipped up in a jaunty fashion. Over all she is cute, quirky, and can kick butt. Character Personality: Janet is spunky and fun loving. She's used to getting her own way, and has a very determined personality. She has a very high sense of justice, particularly when dealt out with her own fists. She knows she's small, and not always the strongest, but she always fights for what's right. She gets bored easily, and is always looking for someone/thing to entertain her.
She's not real big on science, but she has supported Hank and his love of it for years. Still, if someone prattles on for too long about ants etc. she's liable to lose it. Despite her seeming disinterest in buckling down and studying, Jan is very intuitive, and intelligent in her own right.
Janet can be quick to judge and just as quick to forgive. She thinks the Hulk is a softie, and can just as easily pound on the bad guys from dawn until dusk. She's generally a hit first, ask questions later kind of girl.
RP SAMPLE [Villain written by Josh]
Jan sat in a cushy chair in the newest Starbucks on the street, frowning at her frapachino. Glaring really, and imagining Hank’s face in the foam. Ditched for ants. How humiliating was that!? All right, so it had been her that had done the ditching, technically, but he was the one spending all his time in the lab. There was more to life than bugs. She shuddered, practically able to hear Hank correcting. ‘Ants are not bugs, Jan, they’re-’ She shook her head, squeezing her cup until the cardboard dented and making a face. “They’re boring, that’s what they are,” she muttered. Just then though a woman right outside the Starbucks let out a shriek and screamed something about a thief! Time for a little action? A man looking to be about in his thirties came running past the window Jan was sitting next to. He was holding a bright purple purse and seem pretty sure of himself. He felt all the more clever for having nabbed something brand name. Little did he know just who was sipping a mocha latte right next to him!
Janet grinned. Not the typical reaction to spying a thief, but Jan was not a typical girl. “That’s more like it,” she said, jumping up from her seat and running for the door. She was all ready shrinking, costume on under her clothes, and wings sprouting carrying her quickly after the man. She shot her stingers towards his feet, pushing herself faster until she came out in front of him, hands raised offensively. “Hey, purple’s really not your colour. You’re gonna wanna drop that before I sock to you.” The man stared in shock at what must have looked like a pixie straight out of Pan’s Labyrinth. “Ahh!’ He screamed. He dropped the purse alright. But he then started flinging his arms about pathetically trying to swat at her. “Get-get away!” “H-hey-” Jan made a face, brow creasing in annoyance and shooting a stinger at his face for good measure before swooping to catch the purse. “I’m not bug you know, why does everyone try to swat me?” She hovered with the purse, circling round him with an accusing glare. “Do you have anything to say? Hmm??? Or should I drop this purse and beat you up some more?” The Thief's face twitched in pain from the blast to his face. He raised back with his arms and covered his face protectively. “No! N-no more. I give up! I give up!” He was just a street crook after all and this was way out of his head.
“That’s right,” Jan grinned, growing back to her normal size and placing a hand on her hip with a cocky grin. “I totally kicked butt, didn’t I?” she laughed. “Now you march right down to the police station and tell them what you did, and don’t think I won’t know if you don’t.” She fixed him with a hard stare, “I’ve got my eye on you, got it?” The Thief actually let out a terrified little squeak at that. With her warning still fresh in his mind he took off running. Presumably to the NYPD. One thing was for sure, he’d never try stealing from anyone in the fashion district again!
Jan’s chest swelled with pride, and she let out a breath. This was what she’d been missing. There was nothing so thrilling as taking down a bad guy...even if he was just a purse snatcher. She stooped to pick up her clothes, handing the stolen purse back to its owner with a grin. Her mind was made up. She was going back to the Avengers.
